INVITATION TO OPENING / OPENING:
On Friday 5 June 2026, from 5–10 pm, Den Nordiske Ambassade, Svendborg’s new exhibition space for contemporary art, welcomes you to the opening of Nervous Systems, an exhibition featuring works by Carl Otto Linde (DK), Signe Rohardt Lund (DK), and Hanna Antonsson (SE).

Nervous Systems
5.6. — 2.8, 2026

Nervous Systems takes its point of departure in metamorphosis, approaching change as a fundamental condition of being. The boundaries between the natural and the constructed begin to dissolve, and the familiar appears displaced — at once recognisable and strangely unfamiliar.

Bodies, structures, and systems are never fixed, but are continuously shaped by the contexts in which they exist. Life emerges as something constantly informed by technology, environments, and the infrastructures of which it forms part.

The exhibition moves through these transitional states, where forms remain unsettled and are still in the process of becoming.

It points towards a reality we already inhabit, in which the boundaries between the organic and the technological have become increasingly blurred. Our understanding of what is living, human, and mechanical is in constant transformation.

Here, metamorphosis is not understood as a completed process, but as something ongoing — a condition of continual becoming. The exhibition opens a space in which this state may be inhabited and experienced, without demanding fixed or singular answers.

Metamorphosis forms the overarching theme of exhibitions presented at Den Nordiske Ambassade throughout 2026–2027.

Rooted in its local context while engaging with international currents, Den Nordiske Ambassade creates a space for encounters, dialogue, and artistic experimentation across places, perspectives, and lived experience.

The exhibition space opens onto the street through a large front-facing window and extends into a raw, atmospheric courtyard, both publicly accessible. It is hoped that the space will become a natural part of everyday life in Svendborg, engaging both established audiences and those encountering contemporary art for the first time.

At the same time, Den Nordiske Ambassade aims to serve as a meeting point for those with an interest in professional contemporary art across South Funen. Through talks, performances, communal dinners, and presentations by artists and cultural practitioners, the space seeks to foster new forms of community around artistic practice.

Den Nordiske Ambassade is run by visual artist Camilla Carlsen, graphic designer Thomas Cassander, visual artist Matilde Duus, designer and curator Josephine Dupont, architect Elin Hirsch, cultural producer Julie Søgren Jensen, and visual artist Nils Elvebakk Skalegård.

The full exhibition programme for 2026–2027 will be announced soon.
